"AVANT GARDE: The newly opened Avant Gallery is certainly a treat. Offering all styles of objects, furniture and decoration pieces, the eclectic store is filled with mischievous items, one funnier than the next, with some traditional art thrown in. Here you can find a classically designed chair with a transparent back filled with red rose petals. Or a giant red Swarovski crystal chandelier so large you need to move to Versailles to find a place to hang it (although it can be ordered in a smaller size). An Douglas Homer armchair is made out of flexible black rubber pipes that look like penne pasta but is in fact incredibly comfortable. The famous vintage red-lipped sofa by Carlo Molino is on display in the middle of the store. The three plastic lounge chairs in the window that come in silver and pastel colors are designed by Thailand's Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta. They are made from the scoubidou strings kids use to twist into key chain holders. Haunting ceramic jars painted with faces created by Piero Formassetti would look good on a coffee table for a surreal look, a la Dali.Ukrainian owner Dmitry Prut has a love for design and a background in art. He came from New York to open a fun space for art lovers during the last year's Art Basel and now will stay for good. Dadaist and cubist artists would have liked the store: full of the whimsical and fun, the bizarre and silly".
